Oracle of the Dragonfae by Lucy Cavendish
Hello, soul friends!
Today's review is covering a deck that caught my attention for it's beautiful and interesting artwork. It is another creation from Lucy Cavendish. I couldn't wait to get my own deck and work with this beauty.
I hope you enjoy my review and generous pictures!
Oracle of the Dragonfae
I purchased this deck from a local metaphysical shop, as I found it to be a unique theme and different from others in my collection. They had sample decks, so I was able to thumb through it and check it out prior to purchase.
Amazon's description of the Oracle of the Dragonfae:
In the not so faraway past, we were Gods and Goddesses...we dwelt in dimensional lands...Eden, Avalon, Ys, Atlantis and Mu...we were Morgan, Guenevere, Merlin...we were fully alive, and we were fully magical. We worked, loved and lived with all the elemental beings...but as time and dimensions were split asunder by false beliefs and fears, we were torn away from our strongest, most protective kin...the Dragonfae. Now they are returning to help us heal ourselves, and to help us save this sacred planet... This deck is a dimensional portal to allow them to return to our realm, and deliver their powerful messages of love, healing and protection for a new generation of magical beings... Welcome to this journey through a world that has for too long been hidden from all but the most courageous of searchers and mystics. Within these pages, and on each of these magickal cards, you will be introduced to, protected by and given messages and wisdom from the boundless world of the Dragonfae, a world which is now ready to be seen by your eyes and experienced by your heart. The long-hidden truth is that the Dragonfae are our flesh and soul kin, our friends, our guardians and our allies. When we connect with them, we reconnect with the lost parts of ourselves, allowing us to fully explore the gift of life on this beautiful green and blue planet, known to some as Gaia, to others as Dana, and by many other names. The Dragonfae have long worked with each other, and with us, to create healings for the forests, waterways, earth and air of this planet, and for all beings, human and otherwise. They are now re-emerging to assist us with the next step in our own rebirth, and in the rebirth of Gaia, she of 10,000 names. The Dragonfae help us to access knowledge from deep within and reconnect us with long forgotten powers of telepathy, telekinesis and the knowingness that we are all one. Now you can tap into their wisdom and guidance with this stunningly illustrated and truly beautiful set of oracle cards.

My Personal Review
This 44-card deck is meant to be used as an Oracle deck, allowing you to devise your own meanings of the cards, as well. The dimensions of the deckare 1.5 x 4.2 x 6.2 inches and published by Blue Angel Publishing and Llewellyn Publications.
The lift top box is beautiful. And similar quality to Blue Angel Publishing decks. I love the quality and also that the decks are a little larger than the size of the decks. They are not easy to transport in their boxes, but I love the quality of the boxes and the larger size. From my understanding the deck I purchased was a second edition of the original deck, and had some changes to the borders, and even the artwork that was included. I have not seen the first print of the deck, so I am not too familiar with what changed.
There is also includes a wonderfully detailed guidebook, that is so in-depth, which I was very surprised and enjoyed a lot. I love how thorough and carefully meticulous the messages are. This is my only deck from Lucy and I enjoyed her work on this deck. The writings are detailed, fascinating. The messages are peaceful and fierce. The card backs are Lady Titiana and none reversible. Reversals are up to the reader but are really not needed with this deck. The cards are high quality with a shiny, sticky feel that makes shuffling a little less than ideal. A name, keyword, and number is printed on the front of each card which corresponds to the keyword descriptions in the guidebook. Some of the images may be a little intense to some, but there is nothing overly spooky, garish, or harsh. I could easily use this deck for any client. The card stock is not overly thick, shiny, sticky to shuffle, and allow you get a nice bend without cracking the card stock. The finish really helps make the cards shuffle easily without scratching, but some of the cards do stick together when the deck is new.
The size of the cards is an average oracle deck size for Blue Angel, so they are larger. I found it to be a bit difficult for my small hands to get a grasp on the deck at times.
It being a Fairy and Dragon deck, the cards incorporate metaphysical and spiritual themes running through it that also relate to certain fables and stories. It really does lead one to using their intuition and also diving into all of the details in the cards. This may not be the easiest to just pick up for those who are not used to having to rely too heavily on intuition, but with practice and an open mind, it can quickly become a gentle favorite. That being said, it is down to earth and very user friendly.
The artwork is fantastic and compelling, although I am not a fan of so many different artists to complete the deck. Some of the art is varied, but I loved the inclusion of Jimmy Manton's artwork (I really love it), and found some new interesting artists to check out, as well. Other than that, the images were really well done and fit the deck well.
Here are some extra pictures of this ethereal creation:
Overall, I think this was a much needed and well-executed themed deck. Simple, but straight to the point. I highly recommend it!
My overall opinion is that this deck is a 4 star choice.
Artwork - 5 stars
Card stock - 3 stars
Ease - 4 stars
Guidebook - 4 stars
I hope that you enjoyed my deck review, and also enjoy other deck reviews that I add to this site. I have a passion for exploring new decks and also finding various ways of connecting to my intuition. I appreciate you checking out my site and taking the time to read my review.
Happy Reading!
