The Universe Has Your Back by Gabby Bernstein
Hello, soul friends!
Today's review is covering a deck that I purchased as a gift for myself. I had seen it around on Instagram and thought it was a cute addition. It was a different one to add into my collection.
I hope you enjoy my review and generous pictures!
The Universe Has Your Back
I purchased this deck from Hay House from one of their sales to add an affirmation deck to what I already had in my collection. It stood out with the beautiful and ethereal colors and subtle artwork. The short, but profound messages on each of the cards are a good meditation or journaling prompt.
Amazon's description is:
“This inspiring 52-card deck offers spiritual guidance to help you find strength when you are down, synchronicity and support when you are lost, safety in the face of uncertainty, and joy in all circumstances. Now it is in your hands. Surrender to the guidance that the cards provide, practice patience and peace, and trust that the Universe has your back.”

My Personal Review
This 52-card deck is meant to be used as a daily inspirational conversation to have with yourself, when you feel you can't really look past your own personal blocks. This can in no way be confused for an oracle or Tarot deck, and I didn't feel that I could use it as one, anyway. I wasn't really aware of what to expect with this deck, but kept an open mind, as I had seen it used by people on Instagram and thought it was a nice addition to my current collection. This was obviously a deck for those who like affirmations or something to meditate on. These cards were not practical to use for a reading but are better to be more of an afterthought or addendum. I would look at this deck as a good daily draw type of card to work through.
The cards have meaningful and thorough little messages, allowing one to take just a minute to think about the message, perhaps altering their mental energy and focus on the message that allows you to dive a bit deeper. They offer great reminders that help you to focus on a motivating quote. I like the idea of daily inspiration, but this just doesn't do it for me 100%. This has inspired me but I didn't always feel a deep connection to all of the messages included, thus far in my experience. Some cards really made me think and connect, so it was a bit more intriguing than the Miracles Now deck. I always keep an open mind, as some decks are a dark horse and become fast favorites over time.
The size of the cards is quite a bit larger than a traditional tarot card, but similar in size to other Hay House products. The overall product dimensions: 4.5 x 1.2 x 5.8 inches and Hay House is who publishes the deck. The artwork is truly unique, but not every card has drawings on them. They look like doodles and are not overwhelming. There is a subtle use of watercolor and a simple color scheme that truly does mesh well together.
The card stock is super thick, matte, and allows you get a nice bend without cracking the card stock. Shuffling these cards is nice and smooth, but the thickness makes it hard for them to come out as easily. They are thick and smooth, but do stick together sometimes. The deck comes with a beautiful lift top box that is great for storage.
I think the deck is a cute way to reset the day on a positive and healthy note! I loved the messages, as they are inspiring, thought provoking, and also versatile to use as a bit of an affirmation. As there was no guidebook or booklet to help you further connect to the cards, I am not sure you could use it for a reading alone. I like using these for clients to end on a positive note or to give them a focus point to keep in mind. I feel that affirmations are a great way to refocus our attention and really be more mindful of what we are allowing.
The was no guidebook or booklet included with the deck, as it is meant to be used as an affirmation deck.
Overall, I found this to be a surprisingly thoughtful and useful affirmation deck.
My overall opinion is that this deck is a 4 star choice.
Artwork - 4 stars
Card stock - 4 stars
Ease - 4 stars
Guidebook - N/A
